The statue honored Raquella Berto-Anirul, the first Mother Superior and founder of the order, ten millennia ago. The graceful, mysterious monument stood in front of a replica of Raquella’s ancient residence built after the end of Serena Butler’s Jihad, a comparatively small tile-roofed structure that was now a museum.
