It takes place at the threshing floor during the evening, midnight, and dawn, with Ruth executing Naomi’s plan and Boaz offering to be the kinsman-redeemer. The scene divides basically into two parts: Ruth’s implementation of Naomi’s plan (vv. 6–9) and Boaz’s response to the plan (vv. 10–15). It is chiastically arranged:14
