Samson has, in dealing with the lion, produced a corpse. There is nothing wrong in protecting himself, but according to the Nazirite vow, “if someone [something] dies suddenly in his presence, thus defiling the hair that symbolizes their dedication,” one had to go immediately to the tabernacle and undergo a lengthy restoration ritual.
