The fourth and final scenario I wish to entertain is at once more radical and, at least some people’s thinking, more plausible that the second or third. This is the possibility that, instead of fully separate GAAIs being created and then confronting us with claims to independence, a middle way will be pursued in the form of cyborg relations and posthuman hybrids.
