My pulse kicked up at the sound of my name in that deep, slightly husky voice.
My breath caught in my throat. An unwitting mental image of his nothing flashed through my mind, and a hum of electricity surged through my blood, so swift and unexpected I lost my words.
But there were times, like now, when I yearned to experience that kind of unconditional love. To have someone care for me through the good, the bad, and the inevitable mistakes I made.
When I’m not with her, I wish she were there. When I am with her, I want that moment to last forever.

“You’re the only thing that could make me happy forever.”
“In case it’s not clear, I fucking love you, Jules Ambrose, even when you drive me crazy. Especially when you drive me crazy.”
It was comforting to know that no matter how much some things changed, others will always stay the same.
I smiled, wondering how the fuck I ever thought Jules was anything other than my perfect match.
“It’s more than a promise, Red. It’s a guarantee.”
“Hell with you sounds like heaven to me.”
