Looking out windows on public transport becomes unbearably stimulating, fields of rapeseed bringing tears to my eyes, the jagged coastline taking my breath away. My mind, which had seemed so stagnant and grey, feels suddenly like a baby’s, absorbent and crackling with new information. The new person not only makes a depressing and boring life feel interesting, but makes it into an entirely different kind of life.
