Often, people who are tired of themselves are inexhaustibly curious.

It must be nice to need only a degree of sentimentality in order to feel grounded.

I realize now, the older you get, the harder it is to be impressed because people make you feel ashamed of ever being impressed by anything at all. I keep many glowing remarks to myself because of this.

There is true pleasure in fabrics, shapes, pleats, and folds. People think it is frivolous, but feminine things are often thought of that way; it is an important kind of knowledge that is overlooked. In many cases, it is the first mode of expression women have access to.
