“It’s basically a fancy way of saying that I’m a lawyer for people who make a ton of money.”
“You’re a force of nature. You’re intimidating as hell. Any guy would be lucky to have you, but you date these guys who are too insecure to be with someone as smart and accomplished and as badass as you.”
“They can’t handle the thought that a woman might be smarter and more successful than them, so they bolt.”
About time.
realize is that if Corinne Tyler doesn’t message me back, I’m going to lose my mind.
I hate this cocky bastard more than I can ever put into words.
can’t believe we’re sitting here together, sharing a bottle of wine like we haven’t been entangled in an intense, public rivalry for our entire lives.
mean, at the risk of sounding cocky—” “That’s literally never stopped you before.”
“I winked at you so that I could do this.” I close the space between our mouths and press my lips to hers.
“Corinne, you’ve always been my girl,” he replies without hesitation. “It’s just taken you a while to accept it.”
“It terrifies me that you can make me feel so good when deep down, I just want to clock you in that perfect, handsome face of yours.”
The only person who has ever stood in the way of me getting everything I want is you. So needless to say, I have plenty of experience with winning when it comes to Corinne Tyler.”
Then he does a double take, looks at me and remembers that I was basically calling him over to see if he was normal enough for me to take home and bang like a gong,
He’s so handsome that I want to throw my wine in his face. And he knows it, too. He reaches over, picks up my glass of wine, and takes a sip.
But see, I have this feeling that you’re bluffing. I have this feeling that you’ve thought about me for the past week.
“So, that’s an obvious yes.” His words drip with confidence.
but Gray somehow makes me feel like I’m the most remarkable thing he’s ever seen.
“Sending a girl a Birkin is a surefire way to get her to call you.”
“I love it.” “Are you sure? Because I mean it. I’ll get you anything you want, Corinne.”
I sigh. “You’re clearly very used to getting what you want.” “Yet here I am, and I still don’t have a single picture of you to save on my new phone.”
Jesus, what is it about this man that makes me so bold?
“Why’d you get it?” “That’s a much longer story, and one that I don’t want to tell right now,”
“you look so good in that suit that I can’t even remember why I was so mad at you.”
“Corinne, are you telling me that you had twenty-four years to start dating a billionaire and you never did it? Are you on something?”
I marvel at the fact that she’s leaning against me, seemingly at ease.
That’s a fantastic sign. If I can make this woman sigh by kissing her hair, I’ll have her screaming my name in the throes of pleasure in no time.
For another, she carries herself with this indescribable confidence.
She has this uncanny way of detecting that there’s something about her, something ineffable, that draws me in.
“Let me make you come. Let me make you feel good.”
but talent breeds respect. I respect you more than anyone I’ve ever met.”
“Corinne, I don’t mean to screw this up, but I think I love you.”
I don’t protest, naturally, but the gesture is just so…Gray. So smug and yet somehow thoughtful all at once.
“Having other men envy me is remarkably on brand, don’t you think?”
“We’re not really having a conversation about you throwing away a 400k salary so you can have sex with me tonight, are we?”
You found the right woman. Problem is, you don’t know if you can be the right man.
Yes, Gray. You are the only man who has been able to scratch my lifelong, seemingly unattainable itch to fuck Batman.
that Walsh is one of the few people who recognizes just how lonely Gray really is.
“Gray, I really didn’t like you as a person, but I did genuinely like looking at you too.”
I’m so content that I don’t even care that he’s still a smug bastard—a smug bastard that I can’t get enough of, but a smug bastard, nonetheless.
