I nodded. I was, too, but I was also jealous as hell as Dante grabbed Ryder and kissed him hard.

Dante and Ryder were on the back bench. Dante’s eyes opened from where he was sleeping against Ryder. It was probably the first time he had rested since we had left Wyoming. He started to straighten, pausing to kiss the underside of Ryder’s jaw before meeting my gaze steadily in the mirror. Ryder didn’t bother removing the tattooed arm he had draped across Dante’s shoulders. Once they had climbed into the backseat, Ryder had pulled Dante against him and the former alpha heir had fallen asleep, finally finding a moment of peace with his boyfriend since the explosion.

“Bonding wave?” Nikolai pressed, leaning in. “That sounds fun.” Natasha smirked and winked at me. “Mama, please.” Dimitri winced. He rubbed his temple with a groan.

I broke into a run that would have made an Olympic athlete proud. Everything blurred by as I pushed myself to run faster, closing the distance between us. I could hear Tate behind me, running just a few steps back. Remy was still a few feet away when I launched myself at him. He caught me easily, barely rocking backward at the force of my impact. His strong arms banded around me while I wrapped my arms and legs around his torso, my face buried against his neck where I had claimed him only a few days earlier. Home. I was home.

Tate grinned up at him. “Babe, come on. Even you have to admit you looked.” “I did,” Ryder added, ticking up a finger. “And I’m also not impressed.” “I swear, I’m tying both of you to the bed when we get home,” Dante muttered, rubbing his jaw. Ryder’s eyes lit up. “Promise?” “I definitely feel like I’m too old for this conversation,” Addie murmured, her cheeks red.

Rhodes sighed, thinning his lips for a second as he considered the question. “Better, honestly. I think what happened in Long Mesa was cathartic for her. That and whatever you guys did last night.” “Excuse me?” I started to reach for my coffee and froze. He chuckled as he headed for the door, lightly tapping the wall. “You guys definitely need your own place, man. Or better soundproofing.” “I fucking hate you,” I grumbled, my chin dropping to my chest. “Love you, too, babe,” he returned with a grin as he ducked out of my room.

“It’s true,” I said quietly, my eyes on Damien’s. “Nikolai surrendered his pack to Skye days ago. Guess you didn’t hear about that?” “Not just my pack,” Nikolai corrected, going in for the kill, “but a dozen or so European and Asian packs have also agreed to recognize her as their leader. It’s why Windale is currently being surrounded by an army of our combined packs.” Trace had stopped laughing and panic was starting to set in. His eyes darted around like he expected the car to be ambushed by our pack at any second. I loved watching him squirm like the snake he was. “You’re lying,” Damien ...more

Damien’s gaze swung to her. “You said that you would marry me if your mate lost.” “I did,” she agreed easily enough. Her green eyes glittered. “But I never said I wouldn’t stab you in your sleep before you could touch me, steal your pack and free all those people you’ve stolen.” “Bitch,” Trace spat. The growl that ripped from me was completely from my wolf. “Watch yourself,” I warned. Skye smirked at him, her lips pulled back to reveal her teeth. “That’s Alpha bitch to you, bitch.”

“It will only serve to make our packs stronger with our union,” Damien said, rolling his shoulders back. “Surely you can see that.” “I can see that if anything happens to my true mate that I’ll rip your heart out the first chance I get,” she replied, almost happily. “She gets the bloodthirsty side from me,” Nikolai added apologetically, shrugging a bit helplessly for effect. “Her eyes she gets from her mother.”

Griffin’s frown deepened and he turned to me when Trace got out. “We can kill them in their sleep,” he muttered, running a hand through his blond hair. “Fuck, I’ll burn the hotel to the ground tonight.” Nikolai’s eyes grew big as he started to grin. “I rather like this fellow. Griffin was it?”

“We’re doing this the right way,” I said, ignoring Nikolai. “If I win the pack in a challenge, that ends it. If we murder their Alpha, it’ll just start a new war.” “Not if we kill them all,” Nikolai suggested, still on board with Griffin’s idea. “Not helping, Nikolai,” Skye murmured. His eyes narrowed. “What happened to Dad?” She gave him an exasperated look. “Fine. Not helping, Dad.”

“Ready to do this?” Trace snarled, stepping forward. “I accept your challenge,” Remy told him in a firm voice that carried to the spectators. “But my beta will fight.” Trace’s smirk slipped. “What?” Remy lifted his injured arm. “I’m unable to fight, so my beta will. Now.” Something like panic started creeping onto Trace’s face. “Can’t I bury my father first?”

“No,” Remy said flatly. “You wanted this challenge and now you’ve got it. As the responding pack, we can set the timing and we choose now.” “My father gave you the extra time you requested for your challenge,” Trace shot back, eyes bright with what looked a lot like worry. Remy shrugged one shoulder. “That was his right as the responding party. We don’t want to delay this.”

staring at the crowd beyond me. A slow, gorgeous smile spread across her face, and she took off running with a laugh. She ran across the tarmac and straight into the arms of my dad. Relief hit me so hard and fast that I was dizzy. It had been weeks since I’d seen him upright. He laughed as he hugged Skye back. And a second later, Katy was pushing past me to run to him, too. I took my time, watching for any signs of weakness or problems, but my worry disappeared when he grinned at me. “Hey, kiddo,” he greeted, pulling me into a hug.
