The uncle I’ve always disliked is truly a despicable human. The Baron de Silva has kept a squeaky-clean official record, but there have been allegations of psychological abuse over the years. Nothing proven, but from multiple sources. As for Rafe’s discharge from the royal guard, it was for medical reasons. He had what was deemed a psychotic break and injured one of the officers during part of training. After spending a week or two in a private mental hospital, he was released.
