Community is a word typically used to mean “people who match my habits of leisure and consumption—the people I’ve found who unwind like me and indulge like me.” Community gets reduced to people who like the same bands I do, plan travel to the same places I do, and have the same opinion of who should win Best Picture this year at the Oscars.
