I’ve been torturing myself with a reading binge of books with roommate tropes, story after story of guys falling in love with their roommates. Someone should take my Kindle away, seriously.

My stomach does a somersault, an unfamiliar feeling that I’m almost positive is jealousy tightening around my chest. I would bet my left nut that the text he just got was from Elijah. Even if that kiss was the hottest kiss of my entire life, this is my reminder that Theo is still in love with someone else.

I tense immediately at the mention of Elijah and then roll my eyes at myself. Ugh, I need to get over this jealousy about his feelings for his best friend and be happy with what he’s willing to offer me, even if it’s only physical.

“Last year, back in New York, I kept having sex with guys I didn’t even like, just hoping for five minutes of cuddling after,” I confess, humiliation dancing in my gut as I wait for him to judge me for it. It’s not exactly the most masculine thing either, is it? Putting up with sex and hoping to cuddle. Alex rubs his thumb back and forth slowly against my stomach and then presses a soft kiss to my skin. “We don’t have to do that. If you’d rather cuddle and skip the sex part, I can live with that.” My heart nearly cracks in half at his offer and the gentle way he delivers it. I think he really means it too. “No, it’s…” I lick my lips, my heart wedging itself into my throat while I consider my words and if they’re too much. “It’s not like that with you.”
