Is that the way of all love? That it should carry the risk of death?

“If I were you I’d be more worried about the wives and daughters going out to run with the wolves.”

“You must know monsters well, wolf girl.” “I’ve never met one in the wild. They don’t live there.”

We stomped through the world and crumpled things where we walked, too human, not creature enough.

“Animals learn their lessons. They’re smarter than people that way.”
