“Love at first sight is a myth.” I snort. He tugs me closer and presses a kiss to the top of my hair. “Not for me.”
“Death with pride—” “—is still fucking useless to everyone still living.”
“Witch!” I roll my eyes and turn back to Val. He leans over the wooden railing of the deck above with Nos just behind him. “What is it now?” “Don’t fucking die. I don’t fancy life as a siren concubine.” I flip him a rude gesture, thankful that Nos can’t see it.
“Repeat after me,” my mother says. “I take this male into my keeping. I will honour him, respect him and protect him for the rest of our days, else the Sea consume me.” Nilsa doesn’t hesitate. “I take this male as my equal. I will honour him, respect him and fight beside him for the rest of our days, else the Sea consume me.”
Meliad is not somewhere you send your fated mate with only a vampire and a siren to keep her safe. Especially when the vampire is still recovering from bloodlust and the siren has never spent more than an hour on dry land in his life.
When she huffs off ahead, my eyes fall back to her sand-covered ass and I smirk. She’d kill me for saying it, but she looks so fucking hot striding away from me.
