The wound of inadequacy can even be a detriment to the community at large. Think of all the kings and wars throughout history—all fighting to please the desire for more. More power, more money, more territory, more status and fame, etc. It also demonstrates itself as the reckless, profiteering businesses that seek profit above all else, even at the expense of destroying the planet and hurting others. Unchecked desire is cancer—death by overconsumption, overpopulation, over pollution, extreme excess until the point of its own self-destruction.
