Farmland was a priority for the Reich because, if there was one lesson they’d learned from the previous conflict, it was that no one can endure a war without food. The German farmhands were sent off to war, but if manpower were needed to work the land, the Führer would provide it, no matter where it came from. Hence their Polish prisoners. And
