If it wasn’t a good match, thank them for the introduction and let them know what worked and what didn’t. (Choose your words carefully in case this is a close friend of theirs.) This feedback gets them closer to understanding what you want; motivates them, since feedback is encouraging; and provides a chance for them to let you know if you’re being too picky. They might hear your reasons and encourage you to give the person another chance. Listen to them.
