If Elena is even half as divine as the fruit in the Garden of Eden, I absolutely understand Eve’s surrender.
I’ve seen many works of art in my lifetime, all different variants of the term, but I’ve never seen any as breathtaking as her.
I don’t have to see her eyes to know they’re burning; I can feel them, licking down my chest, setting my soul ablaze. They’re dousing me in kerosene as she steps back to admire the flames. I would happily spend the rest of my life on fire if it meant getting to keep her.
“Q,” he says to our daughter, nuzzling her dark curls, “you have the most beautiful mom on the planet, inside and out. You got really lucky there. I’d be lost without her, and we’d be a mess.”
Threading my fingers through his hair, I look down at the two of them, my heart aching inside my chest, knowing that regardless of who breaks hers in the future, I don’t have to worry about it being this man.
