The writing is very jarring. A happened. B happened. C happened. a little dialog. D happened. E happened. more dialog.

Rafer got the raft to within ten feet of the shore. He slipped over the side, into the shallow water, and pulled the raft the rest of the way onto the sandbar. Caballo secured it, and Rafer got the first-aid kit out of his backpack.

the writing is def not flowery. it's very short and to the point with very little description. it's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does read a little strange for some reason
