He may not be sitting next to her, but seeing her in action and observing from afar was kind of fun. And Aleck couldn’t help but love that her gaze kept straying to him. There was something to be said for flirting like this. It was…interesting. And different. Kind of like Kenna herself. He definitely liked it.
“If a thing is worth doing, it’s worth doing well. If it’s worth having, it’s worth waiting for. It it’s worth attaining, it’s worth fighting for. And if it’s worth experiencing, it’s worth putting aside time for,” Aleck said. Kenna stopped in the middle of the dining room and looked up at him. “Oscar Wilde said that.”
Jag swore softly, then straightened in his chair. “Well, the only easy day was yesterday.”
“I like you, Kenna Madigan. And while I might not be able to text you back right away if I’m in meetings or something, know that seeing a message from you pop up on my screen will make me smile, and that I’ll always like hearing from you.”
The second their lips met, she jolted as if she’d been tased, but she didn’t pull away. God, this man was lethal.
“How come when something amazing is happening, time seems to race by? But when shit hits the fan, time crawls?” Marshall chuckled.
Marshall licked his lips sensually, and it was all Kenna could do to control herself and not jump him right there. It had been a while since she’d been with a man, and she had a feeling Marshall would be well worth the wait. At least she hoped so. God, if he was bad in bed or had a tiny dick, she might be devastated.
“Come on, I’ll walk you up.” “You think that’s a good idea?” Kenna teased. She could feel her nipples pressing against her suit and she was damp between the legs. “I just need to make sure you get inside safely. I’d be a shitty boyfriend if I left you in the parking lot.” Kenna shook her head. “No, you’d be normal.” “I don’t like to be normal,” Marshall said. Then he kissed her hard and fast and turned to get out of the Jeep.
think that’s one of the reasons I’m so drawn to you. You’re the antithesis of the people we’re sent to battle against when we’re deployed. You’re the light to the dark that sometimes threaten to overtake my damn soul.”
Aleck was a man who didn’t necessarily like to sit still. He liked to be doing something at all times. But at the moment, he couldn’t think of anything he wanted or needed to do more than he needed to lie there with Kenna. There was something immensely satisfying about her trusting him enough to hold her while she slept. She was extremely vulnerable like this, but Aleck would never hurt a hair on her head. The day she’d jumped into the ocean to save him was the best day of his life, he just hadn’t known it at the time.
At the door, Marshall leaned down and kissed her. It was a swift kiss, a mere brushing of their lips together. Kenna pouted. “That’s all I get?” “For now, yes. If I take your mouth the way I want, we’ll end up in my bed, and I won’t let you up for hours. And if I do that, I can’t feed you. So shopping, then cooking, then eating. Then I’ll take you long and hard and every way you can imagine.” Kenna grinned.
Tears shone in her eyes, but she blinked them away. “Right. So…you need to get packed so you can go kick some ass.” Fuck, this woman killed him.
The fact that you’re with me is something I’ve been pinching myself over for the last six weeks. You’ve got me in the palm of your hand. All you have to do is say the word and I’ll give you anything you want.” “You. I want you,” Kenna replied without a second thought. “Thank fuck,” Marshall breathed.
Marshall wore a pair of gray sweatpants, which should be illegal. Well-endowed men wearing sweatpants were a turn-on for most straight women, but the sight of her man, in his sweatpants, made Kenna want to throw them all away so no one else could see what was hers. The thought wasn’t even startling. Marshall was hers—just as she was his.
“I want to take you back inside, tear off your clothes, and bury my face in your pussy again,” Aleck blurted. Kenna blushed, and her grip on his wrists tightened. “Yeah, well, we have to be adults and do adulty things,” she said. “Fucking you until we both explode is an adult thing,” he quipped. “True,” she said.
He needed their connection. Needed to feel her heartbeat against his chest as he held her.
Kenna may have thought that she didn’t need a man, but she was wrong. She needed this man. She fell asleep with a smile on her face, knowing whatever might come in the future, she would always need Marshall, right by her side.
