“Do your worst. I can take you.” “I want you to go out on four dates with me—” “What?” “I wasn’t finished. I want you to go out on four dates with me, and not fall for me.”
Seth. I wonder what he’s doing right now. He couldn’t possibly still be naked. But he was in her mind.
“It was a bit too sweet for my taste.” Tara paused and met his gaze. “I like a little more … bite.”
He’s leaving. Tara reassured herself every time her heart tripped on the peaks of her anxiety. No matter what happened between them, her autonomy was safe. She had nothing to fear. So what was holding her back? Nothing. Nothing at all. It was a go. Green light to show Seth the time of his life.
Could he make it any less obvious that he was interested in Tara? But the truth was, he was more than interested. He was downright infatuated with her.
“At a later, more convenient time, you can undress me with your hands and teeth,” she said in a husky voice.
All this disquiet, yearning, and soul-searching wasn’t going to do him any good. His path was set.
What is that supposed to mean? Was he suggesting a vacation fling after this one? He was so casual about reminding her that he would be gone soon.
I promise you’ll be happy. I only want to make you happy.”
“Now I’m sort of glad I never went to prom,” she said quietly in his arms. “It never would’ve been this perfect with anyone else.”
