Wrapped in plastic was a severed human hand, still fresh, with contorted fingers toward the center as if trying to make a fist. Matthew was thankful for putting it in the fridge to defrost it instead of leaving it in the sink. It was a close call. Matthew took the severed hand, put it on the table, and continued to prepare his plate. It was going to be exquisite.
