Every time, I was “unreasonable” for reading between the lines. But that’s where the truth always lies, isn’t it? The unsaid between.
A small room, filled with a small amount of things, for a woman she tried to make small her entire life. I vow then that I will never let this new husband or anyone else make me feel small. I will try with all my might to stand tall. I will never live cowering again.
I feel like a butterfly trapped in a glass box and carried into an unnatural environment. I’m safe within these walls, but there is only a thin pane that separates me and whatever monstrosities live in the forest.
Silence is consistent and solitude is safe.
