“So what’s going to happen with Viola?” Marconi asked. “She’ll be let out,” Gretchen said, mournfully washing down her last bite with the dregs of her beer. “Put in the foster system unless Ainsley comes back to claim her. I’m sure that will do wonders for her developing psychopathy.” Marconi raised her brows in silent agreement, and Gretchen wondered what steps the woman would take to monitor Viola. They couldn’t really justify it legally, but Shaughnessy had done it to Gretchen for three decades, so she guessed they’d find a way to keep an eye on Viola.
