At some point you look up and find yourself somewhere completely different than where you thought you’d be in life. Like a person mindlessly caught in a riptide, you don’t stop to evaluate where you’re going and why—until it’s perhaps too late. You’ll just float through life, going nowhere at all—or at least not where you want.
Take the time to envision the best version of yourself and your life. Some people genuinely don’t have an idea of what that is or believe they can get there. But more often than not, it’s just that they haven’t taken the time to think about it.
Sometimes you’re going to hit the bullseye and feel great about it. But afterwards, don’t expect to hit only bullseyes from there on out. It’s just something to aim for. Sometimes you’ll miss the target completely. Keep trying.
The more you brush it off and get back up, the easier it will become to laugh off your missteps. Even if you get derailed, you’ve laid down your tracks in the direction you want to go, and you’ll get better at getting right back on. You know that track is taking you toward your best self. Remember: marginal gains.
“Always be creative before reactive.”
Simply react better to the things that irritate you and your relationships will improve.
