It is therefore unsurprising that Lamech became so proud and arrogant. The sudden technological explosion evident in Genesis 4 at the time of Lamech’s sons, according to the text of Genesis 6:1-2 was a result of the appearance on Earth of the fallen angels. It can be reasonably deduced that Lamech had made some arrangement with the angels, and the dowry appears to have been kingship, protection (the threat of divine vengeance from the angels) for Lamech and knowledge of technology for his sons.
