The Abrahamic Covenant showed us that faith is what pleases God and guarantees the inheritance of His promises. It showed that we participate in communion with a holy God (and therefore with His family) by believing in Him and recognizing His sovereignty. This Covenant then is a guarantee of a victorious future. We will see more about this in subsequent chapters of this book.
