Bashan, or Bathan in the Canaanite language, also means, “place of the serpent” (the serpent is called Lotan). That region is actually home to a large, curiously snake-shaped mound covered in funerary monuments, located in close proximity to the megalithic Gilgal Refaim (“Wheel of the Giants”).[lxxvii]
