The idea of God “taking” Enoch is indicative of reassignment of function for Enoch. That is why “he was not.” It means he became inaccessible to mankind. He had entered the presence of God, where he would have another role to play in the abode of the divine on earth, in Eden. This role, as it is explained by Jude, was a prophetic one.
