“Please do not try so hard to alter yourself,” Haruka says. As he speaks, Nino lifts his head and opens his vivid eyes. “I feel that you are lovely now. Just as you are.”
Across his entire existence, he’s never wanted to kiss another creature so badly…
To talk and interact so freely with someone, without the burden of strict societal roles, great personal sacrifice or rigid expectations… Haruka never could have imagined this circumstance. Not even in his wildest dreams.
How long can they stand together like this—embracing each other in the soundless, golden sunlight? The solidity of Haruka in his arms, and the gentle rise and fall of his breathing swelling against his chest. Nino has no clue. But he could do it all day. Even then, it wouldn’t feel long enough.
His laugh is like the rumble of thunder, but if the oncoming storm were a thing of great joy.
Nino loves making him laugh. It feels as if he needs it, and every time Nino succeeds, the sensation is akin to sunlight breaking through a dark, overcast sky.
“Haru, do you find me attractive? I mean physically or within your nature… Are you drawn to me?” He turns, his wine-colored eyes unblinking. “You are exquisite to my nature. In every way.”
If Haruka were a lake, Nino would swim in him and submerge himself. Happily drowning in him.
This is heaven. He has never given heaven much thought. Never questioned whether or not it exists, but this is it. Here, in the warm firelight of this bedroom and kissing Haruka, is absolute paradise.
It had intentionally enclosed him, as if it were seeking his own aura within him—a beautiful entity desperately searching for its long-lost friend.
“You two are gorgeous together, like perfect bookends. Sunlight and moonlight. Jupiter and Mars… Mercutio and Romeo.”
Haruka laughs, affectionate and deep from his throat. Nino loves that sound. Maybe it is his favorite sound.
