If it’s eaten straight from the pan, it has no calories. These are the Bacon Rules.
Her voice took on a pleading tone that had become all too familiar; one that she never had before him.
Her shyness about her body had turned into ignoring it completely until she was forced to buy new clothes.
Or maybe her shyness led to feeling unnecessary shame, and then kept her from a fuller life. She went to Maui but stayed on a towel, when she'd have rather done things but was embarrassed for people to see her outside of a huge t-shirt and a very long sarong.
But why even bother focusing this on him?” She looked at her friend. “None of us has confidence one hundred percent of the time, Savs. Sometimes, you just have to fake it till you make it.”
“You two are more than I deserve sometimes. Real talk.” “You never think you deserve good things, and that’s a part of the problem.
“Now take a moment to honor yourselves and this step forward in your practice. Let go of what didn’t work, where you struggled, where you weren’t perfect. Honor yourself, thank yourself, accept yourself where you are right now.”
Accept yourself in this moment. Be generous to yourself today.”
“I was lost in that man. I never changed anything about myself because I never really looked at those decisions as my own. I don’t even know if I recognized my own opinion while I was with him.”
“Let’s make the goal for you to love yourself exactly where you are right now. No matter what change you make to the exterior, Savvy, you are who you are on the inside. The outsides are just window dressings.”
This whole journey isn’t about revenge. It isn’t about Jason at all. It’s about you feeling good and doing the things you love because you’ve gotta love you before you can love anyone else. Only you can decide when you’re ready, Savs.”
I will not allow myself to feel guilty for self-indulgence or self-care. I will live in the moment and spoil myself if I so choose. I will not be concerned with anyone’s timeline or expectations but my own. Before Savvy takes care of everyone else, Savvy takes care of Savvy.
After focusing on her breath for several minutes, she let her mind cycle through thoughts that played at the edges of her peace. Savvy let each thought come to her slowly, as if for permission, and then followed each thought down their respective rabbit holes.
Savvy’s Self-Care Plan: 1. Meditate daily. 2. Tennis and yoga as often as possible. 3. Be kind to yourself. 4. Give yourself a day of pampering each month. 5. Journal more. 6. Let yourself be a priority. 7. Live in the present moment. 8. Work smarter.
There are no limitations here, Savvy. Only the ones you put on yourself.”
