Death can stop you from living, but it shouldn't. Death should be the catalyst for you to yearn more from life.
What’s that nursery rhyme…the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker? In my case it was the butcher, the baker, the body caretaker.
An alcoholic never starts with the intention of being addicted. They took one sip. Go through one crisis. Realize things didn’t hurt as much when they drank. All it takes is one step. One step to destroy the perfect life or to create it.
We are who we need to be to fit or fulfill a role others have placed upon us.
all the things we could have done mean nothing because what we do is what we will always do if given the chance to redo our mistakes.
I wish I had killed them, but knowing the dishonor I brought to their name is even better. I destroyed them, their career, their aspirations, their reputation, and that alone makes up for being forced to live with them and call them family.
pretending to listen to the righteous sermons about hell and brimstone, about a judgmental God who watched our every move and knew our every secret thought.
I was never allowed to accept payment from those in our church, and if I dared to babysit anyone who wasn’t a member, then I had to give all that money in the offering on Sunday morning. God loves a cheerful giver and all that crap.
