What if Helena and Hermia wanted each other far more than they wanted Demetrius and Lysander and the whole pining affair was just for show? What if Bottom enjoyed Quince bossing him around? What if Puck’s devotion stemmed more from being Oberon’s lover than his subject? And what if Titania’s and Oberon’s marriage is far more political than personal?
