The show even goes out of its way to mock Leslie’s husband, Ben, for getting into stop-motion animation when he’s briefly unemployed. Ben’s stop-motion films are amateurish; they’re never going to win him any awards or help him secure a new job. So, in the eyes of the show and its characters, his interest in it is kind of pathetic. The mild depression he develops as a consequence of being unemployed is ridiculed too.
