As I made my way back down the cement steps toward my car, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief wash over when it dawned on me: I had the complete freedom to walk out the doors and drive away. I was free to spend time with my friends, go to the movies, call my parents, eat at restaurants, go on vacation, walk on a beach, kiss my husband and children every night.
