Many in the audience likely reflected on their own relationships as Christopher was asked to lay bare some of the most intimate details of his own. Disagreements between couples are common, the frequency and severity of them on a wide scale. Partners often say things to each other out of anger that they later regret, and most certainly would never want repeated outside the walls of their home. But arguments between couples rarely rise to the level of murder, and there was no way anybody watching and listening to his testimony would believe that Christopher had taken it to such an extreme.

One example of the constant explaining in this book. In this case (many many more) sticking up for Christopher which was not needed. We can see he is innocent.
