I know we weren’t together when he was with her, but he had feelings for me….so in my mind, he cheated. I know he didn’t really, but it kind of feels like he did.

HE DID CHEAT

They fall in love with a woman for a period of time, five or ten years, have their family, and then… Well, then they return to their old life. I’m not saying that’s what has happened between you two, but he probably wouldn’t be aware of it even if it has.” “What do you mean?” “It’s intrinsic to want to procreate. It’s primal, buried deep within our DNA. Especially for a man as dominant as Nathan. His body would be seeking out a female and he wouldn’t even know why.”

I feel like shit for days. Because it wasn’t her, and I cheated again. Only I didn’t cheat because we aren’t together. I just don’t know how to get my heart to understand that. I rest my forehead against the hard, cold tiles. Regret runs through my soul. Let me go, Eliza. Let me go.

He cups my cheek in his hand and brings my face up to his. “But it cemented something for me.” His eyes search mine. “It’s you Eliza. It’s always been you. And I know that my love for you started out platonic, but you have owned me since the day we met.”
