Donut jumped up on a high shelf and knocked a vase over. Ash spilled out. “Mom!” Mordecai cried, running to the shelf, shooing the cat away.

Carl: Donut, did you use the bathroom before we went to sleep? Donut: I DID NOT I WENT IN THE HALLWAY BATHROOM BEFORE WE FOUND THIS ROOM.

“But if we don’t stop them, they’ll hurt somebody else.” I stopped dead in the hallway. I looked at the cat. It was a very un-Donut-like thing to say. But worse, it was the truth. “Goddamnit, Donut,” I said.
