Don’t play like that. Don’t be a child. Don’t toy with others, and don’t let yourself be toyed with. As Romans 12:9 says, “Love must be sincere.”
People waste gifts because they either don’t realize their value or don’t know how to use them. If God gives you a gift, you know it is going to be valuable. The question is, How are you going to use it? If you are single, there’s a good chance you have a gift that you’re wasting.
When your own natural look doesn’t match up with what is currently on-trend, it can lead to body image issues and low self-esteem—even though you might have been considered ideally beautiful a few decades or centuries ago. Too fat, too thin, too dark, too pale, too anything—at some point, you would have been considered beautiful, and the only thing that’s changed is what the media has decided should be fashionable.
A healthy, godly marriage is not entertaining. It’s amazing; it’s beautiful; it’s an incredible adventure; it’s boring. You wouldn’t want to watch it, but you do want to live it.
If they haven’t outgrown playing games, then they are not grown-up enough to make a good husband or wife.
Some (including Adam) have blamed Eve for being the first to take the fruit and then offering it to her husband. However, it was Adam, not Eve, whom God told to leave that fruit alone; Eve hadn’t even been created yet (Gen. 2:16–18). It was up to him to teach her the one rule God had given, and he obviously didn’t do a very good job. More importantly, when she decided to take the forbidden fruit, Adam was “with her” (3:6); he did nothing to stop her, and he went right along in breaking the one rule when she offered him some to eat. You leave them better than you found them. Literally, you want their future spouse to be glad that their new husband or wife dated you first.
