When Bhaskar Prajapat raped the cocky houseguest, and Dipu Yadav and company gang raped Pintu’s wife, the survivor was seen as fully human, and the assertion of power and expression of anger was the perpetrators’ primary motivation. And when the men raped women they were in relationships with, sans violence or anger, they objectified their victims for sexual fulfilment. Though not a primary motivation here, power played an enabling role; power was further established.
