She didn’t have the energy for this.
The thinking could wait until tomorrow.
She was truly losing it.
“His demons dance with mine,” she murmured softly, the truth of that statement seeping into her pores. “That’s all I can give you.”
“And if your demons take you like they did this morning?” he asked quietly. Morana swallowed. “Let’s hope his find mine, then.”
She’d been expecting a text more along the lines of “Me, Tarzan; You, Jane”.
Dante: Dear Morana, whatever you just told Tristan, kindly don’t again. He is just itching to go punch my father in the face and that would be very inconvenient for our plans. I don’t want to get in between whatever you two have going on but please don’t egg him on right now. I need him focused. Thank you. Dante.
Yes, Mr. Caine. Of course, Mr. Caine. Anything else, Mr. Caine?
But will I put a bullet in your head? Not unless you don’t cross me personally. Who else you cross or don’t doesn’t matter to me or my gun.”
Morana would’ve said she had a voice made for sex.
“But don’t tell her your secrets because she’ll tell them all to Dante. She loves that man something fierce.” “Is that because you love him?”
“Did something happen?” he asked in a quiet, almost soothing whisper, the huskiness of his voice right next to her ear.
He let her. He let her shower him and received it. Accepted it. Didn't kiss her back but didn't push her away.
“Another moment?” Dante grinned, before shaking his head and walking out the main door wordlessly. Morana turned
Dante just grinned, pushing one hand in his trouser pocket and another around Morana’s shoulder as they started walking towards the mansion. Morana saw Tristan glance pointedly at Dante’s hand, which the man did not remove.
They both deserved this. This was theirs.
"As much as I enjoy these animal noises, you can speak, you know."
“They will die a thousand deaths,” he murmured, almost gently as his thumb traced the line of her jaw, “before they ever touch a single hair on your head again.”
“I’ve never slept with anyone before,” she confessed into his neck, her nose in that happy spot again. “Me neither,” he murmured into her hair.
Tristan 'The Predator' Caine snored like a baby.
Morana rolled her eyes
A frustrated noise left his throat
“Fuck,” he spoke, slight wonder, slight disbelief in his tone. Yeah. She felt that ‘fuck’ too.
“In fact, your one ex was a thief who sold you out.” Morana locked eyes with him in the mirror. “And I let him die, didn’t I?”
“Is there something you’d like to tell me, caveman?” Morana asked,
I will cut you open and eat you alive.”
“I know my smartness turns you on.” “It does.”
“But I know, I know, she’s alive.”
“Thinking my sister would always wonder why her brother didn’t love her enough to live for her. I couldn’t leave her with that.”
and kill the other monsters who wanted to hurt me.”
“He’s fine,” Tristan said from behind her, his voice slightly off. “Stop fussing over him.” “Go stand with him before he decks me, Morana,”
“I’m so in love with you, caveman.” She saw his eyes flare slightly, his hand coming to rest around her neck, gripping her firmly. “You can’t take that back,” he warned her fiercely.
fell in love with you as a boy and as a man. And watching it happen has been the only peace I have found in years, knowing you will be loved and cherished and protected after I’m gone. I needed to give you that.”
Dante simply smoked in the corner,
“You might have been born with another name but you are Morana. My Morana. You’re the girl I killed for and you’re the woman I’d die for. You are mine and you are exactly where you’re supposed to be. Don’t ever question that again, do you understand?”
