“I don’t want to spend time with you.” A muscle flexes in his jaw. He shakes his head, like he’s disappointed in me. “I don’t!” “You do. You’re fascinated by me. You just can’t wrap your head around why.”
Fascinated 🙄 our FMC is just inexplicably “fascinated” by our drop dead gorgeous MMC. Kinda feels like a cop out. A way to bring two characters together quickly and easily. They’re just so “fascinated” with each other 😖
Here’s the bottom line: I want you. You want me. End of story.” “I hope you won’t throw me out of the car again, but I have to tell you that your idea of romance is profoundly lacking.”
Okay, got a tiny lol from me, but Juliet’s vibes are just so alike other Geissinger FMCs 🫤 so far Jules isn’t standing out from the crowd
“If I ever did kiss you, it would only be to satisfy a morbid curiosity about what disappointment tastes like.” He roars with laughter.
“Because you…inexplicably…like me.” He reaches out and gently brushes his knuckles over my cheek. His gaze follows the path of his touch. He says softly, “It’s not inexplicable. I like you the way Newton liked gravity.” “I don’t know what you mean.” “Once he found it, everything else in the universe made sense.”
“She’s not as clear about her feelings as I am about mine.” Liam’s tone turns dismissive. “Then she’s daft.” “She’s not daft. She’s perfect. She can hardly stand the sight of me, and she doesn’t trust me for shit, and she mocks me every bloody chance she gets…” My sigh is heavy and hopeless. “And she’s perfect.”
“Like how dangerous? On a scale of driving while intoxicated to Darth Vader.” I answer without hesitation. “Darth Vader is a mama’s boy compared to him. He’s more like the love child of Lex Luther and Maleficent. Times ten thousand.”
Why does she choose this dialogue? Why does she make the FMC out to be a dolt? Why does she take away from the legitimate danger of the moment and their connection by making the FMC’s snark her entire personality?!
“Do you need a minute to take your heart medication, old man? Because I’m about to set this bed on fire.” My answer is a chuckle, dark and low. “Ah, lass. That smart mouth will be the death of me.”
