Possessiveness and fury roared through his senses, overtaking him until all he wanted to do was kill, fuck, and protect.
“Let me introduce you to everyone,” Jade said happily, waddling to the table and tugging a besotted Theo behind her.
Anxiety made his heartbeat quicken and heat crept up his collar. Luka frowned.
In his world, he excelled at almost anything he tried. If he set his mind to something, more often than not, he succeeded. Feeling anxiety wasn’t something he was used to.
He wanted to be a person worthy of her attention, and right now, he didn’t feel that way.
A pale pink spread over her cheeks, drawing his attention away from his aims yet again. Would her cheeks flush like that after a vigorous bout of fucking, or would her skin pinken everywhere?
“My very DNA has been altered by you.
When people on Earth talked about soulmates, could this be what they were referring to? Some long-lost connection only certain people shared and were able to recognize. If so, how many humans had missed out on finding their mate because they were separated by a galaxy?
Crap. He is a goddamned closet romantic! She could barely handle her sexual attraction to Luka as it was, but now he revealed that he had a romantic side? She could practically feel her ovaries yelling at her to say, “We can be happy together!”
He acted exactly the way she wished people would act with her, and that scared the ever-loving shit out of her.
Damn gorgeous man with his rugged Indiana Jones scientist-explorer thing.
She liked laughing with him. They’d had a wonderful afternoon together, and he’d kept his word except for a few brushes against her ear and the hands on her head. He’d definitely bent the rules, she thought as she reclined against his chest, but he hadn’t broken them, and she found she enjoyed his tricksy side.
Making her come had brought him pure masculine satisfaction, but knowing that she liked who he was made him feel…so much more.
Was this how it would be with her? Easy and happy and intimate in a way he’d never experienced.
Alice licked her lips, drawing his eyes to her mouth yet again. You’ve gone your whole life without kissing. You can wait a little longer.
He stayed in place, gazing at the scene before him, and tried to temper all the different emotions roaring in him. Nobody had ever done anything like this for him, and he was completely puzzled as to what he’d done to earn it.
The slow, sensual grinding of his hips and his languorous kiss felt like a claim. And she couldn’t get enough.
“Over the last few days, I’ve grown to like you more than I thought possible, but my soul knew it loved you even when I was drowning in the void of my mind. I’m humbled you feel I’m worthy of your love.”
“Are those words taken lightly on your planet? Because, they aren’t here. I love you, Alice. I’ve never said that to anyone else and never will. Are you sure about me? About us? There won’t be any going back after this.” Alice couldn’t contain the happy tears that streaked down her face. “I’m all yours, forever.”
He’d never felt so free. She saw him for all that he was and loved him anyway.
Earlier, Alice had convinced him to lay out a makeshift bed in front of the fire. He’d done as she directed without complaint. The power she held over him was comical. With a touch of her hand and a soft smile, he’d been tripping over himself to do her bidding. They’d spent hours sitting here while he taught her to read using the stories of the matings he’d collected over the years.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love presents, but you’re going overboard. I asked you to stop, remember?” she said while continuing to stumble forward down an uneven path. The sounds of the forest played all around her, and she wondered if he had another picnic planned. “I remember I specifically tuned out that request.”
His smile was infectious as he pulled her through a large, comfortable bedroom and onto a… “A balcony,” she exclaimed, hands flying to her mouth.
