“Get your key ready, woman. We need to get inside your room.” He paused. “So I can get inside you.”

“Jesus,” he moaned. “God needs to wait,” I begged. “Move, Reynolds. Take me.”

He made me feel safe, cared for, and even sexy. All with a touch and some softly spoken words.

“I’d like to kick your ass,” I muttered. He appeared by my elbow. “What was that?” “I said I have gas,” I deadpanned. “You might want to leave the room.” He blinked, stepped back, then walked away. But I heard him laughing, and I hugged myself. Another small victory.

“I always have the right answers. Depends if your grumpy ass listens to them.” I swatted her butt as she went by, amused at her yelp. “Show some respect,” I repeated her words from earlier. “My grumpy ass always listens.” “Whatever,” she muttered. “You listen with one ear blocked, and the other is already deaf.”
