In a scene bearing scant resemblance to its rendering in countless thriller movies, the old truck gradually picked up some faint semblance of speed, enough to roll through the flimsy barrier and trundle on into the night, but all performed so slowly that the Greek soldiers looking on reacted more with puzzlement than alarm, the destruction of their barrier leaving them “shouting and confused” rather than reaching for weapons.
