If it were truly a reflection of “original” sin, it would be with the children from birth as well - the doctrine of original sin from the Catholic-Protestant perspective is that everyone is born with it.
ORTHODOX doctrine is that everyone is infected as with a sickness but not the culpability of sin. We CAN choose not to sin. This alone doesn’t save us, but Adam and Eve’s sin does not condemn us.
