“How can we use this to our advantage?” Buxton directed the question to Wade. “There must be a way to throw him off his game, or at least to delay this next deadline of his.”
Isabella
Release a false press statement about her that would throw him off his game.

“The only thing that could possibly entice him to give all that up is to offer him something he wants more.” He cut his eyes to Nina. “I believe Guerrera should try communicating directly with him again. If she’s amenable.”

“We would need to release the hold on his social media platforms,” Breck said quietly. “All of them cooperated fully with taking them down, but they may not want to put them back up knowing he’s fixing to put out more video.” “If we don’t release the hold soon, he’ll find another outlet that we can’t control at all,” Wade said. “He craves attention. He’s becoming addicted to his own game.”
Isabella
Release it. It is the smarter way to go.

The fact that he had reached out to Buxton indicated he had news about the commercial genealogical database search.

Nina wasn’t surprised the companies required permission from participants to turn over their data. A lot of questions had been raised when law enforcement obtained familial matches from a commercial DNA database to identify a suspect in the Golden State Killer case. After the headlines, some companies had opted to have participants sign agreements declaring their willingness or refusal to share their DNA profiles with law enforcement.
Isabella
Ayyy that actually happened.

“While we were waiting on the results, we used DNA phenotyping to generate a composite image of the unsub. I’ll email it to you with the rest of our report.”
Isabella
That's cool. I didn't know they could do that. I obv know how phenotyping works, but I didn't know they could do something that specific.

Nina knew the phenotyping process didn’t create a perfect picture of the person in question, but she had seen it come close in several cases. Special software could analyze a person’s DNA to predict characteristics such as hair color, eye color, facial shape, skin tone, freckling, and stature, among other things. At last, they would have an idea of what the Cipher really looked like.
Isabella
That's cool.
