Anyone with a careful eye on the history and progression of the emergent movement can see that it is not dead. It is no longer underground. It is no longer a grassroots movement on the fringes of Christian culture. It has come out from the margins, stronger than ever but with a new name: progressive Christianity. The beliefs may be similar to those of the more liberal mainline denominations that burned through the church in the early 1900s. But progressive Christianity is a movement not satisfied to sit in the margins. It is directly aimed at infiltrating the evangelical church from within.
