At New Life, we have a spiritual formation tool we use called the genogram (more on this in chapter 6). A genogram is a tool out of family systems theory for examining the ways we have been shaped by our families of origin. It reveals both the positive and negative legacies that have been handed down. Unless we look back to see how we have been improperly formed, we will continue to live out the same patterns from one generation to the next.
