At any point, the princess could have left each of these relationships, but she didn’t. The problem wasn’t who she fell in love with, the problem was how she stayed in unhappy situations long after the writing was on the wall. She had let herself be controlled by a combination of romantic obsession and her own lack of self-esteem. The princess looked in the mirror and said, “I am worth more than this curse says I am.”
